Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death in women and have a huge effect on quality of life. Changes in our blood vessels start silently at least 20 years before cardiovascular disease is detected, and risk begins to rise from menopause. Yet in women the risks are often under-recognised and under-treated. Women’s symptoms can differ from men’s and are often missed. Early detection of risk factors and their management are effective at preventing disease so are crucial, particularly if you have a family history.

This package is for you if:

You have a family history of heart disease
You are concerned about the increased risk of cardiovascular disease for women post-menopause
You are aware of the bias towards cardiovascular disease as a male problem, and the consequent under-treatment of women, and would like to get early indications if there may be problems on the horizon
You already have raised blood pressure or high cholesterol, and are unsure what to do about it.

Our Cardiovascular Health Package includes:

Personal Health & Lifestyle Questionnaire

Evidence-based assessment of your personal & family medical history and your lifestyle - to understand your underlying cardiovascular risk factors.
Vital Signs Check

Blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, grip strength, ECG pulse rhythm & rate check.
Simple readings that tell us a lot about your cardiovascular health.
Comprehensive Blood Tests

Diabetes and advanced cholesterol screen (HbA1c, Lipid profile, Apolipoprotein B, Lipoprotein(a). These tests are not all available on the NHS and provide a more accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk.
Consultation with your Doctor to discuss results

A 30 minute appointment that allows time for a full explanation of your results and what you need to do about them - with advice on medical treatment options and evidence based lifestyle change.
Referral to Cardiovascular Experts and further testing if needed

If your risk is high we will discuss referral to our partner Cardiologist, Dr Michael Hickman, who can also arrange a state-of-the-art coronary artery angiogram with Cari-Heart Fat Attenuation Index (FAI)* (additional cost) the most accurate way to assess your coronary arteries, if necessary (additional costs will apply).

Booking & Prices

Our cardiovascular package costs £400, which includes all of the testing outlined above, and your face to face consultation.

If any referrals or follow ups with third-party providers are necessary, these will be discussed separately.

The first step in signing up for this service is to book a free, 15 minute dedicated enrolment appointment with our Clinic Administrator who will be able to talk you through the process, answer any questions you have - and if you want to go ahead - book appointments for your investigations and doctor consultation.
