Understanding your metabolic health

Poor metabolic health can lead to obesity and diseases such as diabetes and fatty liver - but way before that it is a silent driver of ageing and most of the other life-limiting chronic illness.

Traditional measures, such as BMI, do not always accurately reflect metabolic health; you can be skinny with poor metabolic health and its consequences, or overweight with good metabolic health, low visceral fat and high lean muscle.

Understanding your metabolic health is key to improving your health span and also to unlocking how you lose weight.

The Metabolic Package is for you if:

You have a family history of diabetes, or have ever suffered from gestational diabetes
You find that you have an increase in centrally-held (around the tummy) weight post menopause
You would like a baseline body analysis before starting any kind of weight loss programme

Personal Health & Lifestyle Questionnaire

Evidence-based assessment of your personal & family medical history and your lifestyle - to unlock underlying risk factors.
Vital Signs check

Blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, grip strength, ECG pulse rhythm & rate check.
Simple readings that tell us a lot about how your body is functioning.
Body Composition Scan DEXA

The body composition DEXA gives us an accurate reading of your lean muscle, total fat, and where it is stored. These are key readings that determine function over time and disease risk.
Delivered at the same time as the BMD DEXA - with our partner i-Thrive in Surrey.
Blood Tests

Diabetes (HbA1c), insulin, lipids, Apolipoprotein B, liver function, thyroid function - the most accurate screen for insulin resistance, blood fats, liver damage and thyroid dysfunction (a range of tests not routinely available on the NHS).
Consultation to discuss results

A 30 minute appointment with our in-house dietitian to discuss your results an agree a bespoke management and lifestyle plan.
Additional services to support you

Our in-house dietitian, or partner City Dietitians are able to offer expert diet and nutrition advice.
We can also offer coaching and exercise support.
Continous Glucose Monitoring - if required

We don’t routinely recommend Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), but if you are found to have a metabolic issue it may be helpful and we can support you with this.

Booking & Prices

Our Metabolic Health Package costs £400, which includes all of the testing outlined above, and your face to face consultation.

If any referrals or follow ups with third-party providers are necessary, these will be discuss separately.

The first step in signing up for this service is to book a free, 15 minute dedicated enrolment appointment with our Clinic Administrator who will be able to talk you through the process, answer any questions you have - and if you want to go ahead - book appointments for your investigations and doctor consultation.
