Post-menopausal pelvic health
Maintaining good pelvic health is incredibly important post-menopause
Clinic51’s pelvic health service
During and post-menopause, declining oestrogen levels can cause a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles - which can lead to treatable, but extremely bothersome issues such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapase, pain during sex, and recurrent infections. All of these can affect women’s ability to sleep, travel, and exercise - impacting overall quality of life.
Many women have come to see these are inevitable parts of ageing, but they needn’t be - being proactive about maintaining pelvic health helps improve bladder control, sexual function, and core stability - significantly improving quality of life. Targeted exercises, pelvic floor physiotherapy, HRT, and other appropriate care can improve and even remove symptoms.
At Clinic51, we are able to offer women:
A women’s health physiotherapy consultation: Crucial for pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation, which can improve urinary symptoms, continence and pelvic comfort.
Doctor consultation and examination: Up to an hour with a doctor to review your symptoms and make an assessment and management plan, including discussion regarding the genitourinary syndrome of menopause and available treatment options.

I encourage all women to have pelvic floor MOT’s, to check that all is working well and to also help prevent any issues in the future. It’s an honour to be working alongside such fantastic menopause specialists at Clinic51, to fully support women’.
