This is what to expect at each stage of your journey with Clinic51.

    • Book online or by calling us

    • Give us a call if you would like to talk anything through.

    • This involves a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, medical history, and personal goals along with an introduction to how female hormones work, and what treatment options you have.

    • Your doctor will explain the pros and cons of different types of hormone replacement therapy and most importantly you will have the time to discuss what matters to you, be given tailored advice, and agree a treatment plan.

    • The cost includes a private prescription and a consultation letter which will be emailed to you shortly after your appointment. If you have been prescribed hormone replacement therapy, this letter will outline how to use your new medication to best manage your symptoms. It also includes your doctor's email address should you have any questions before your follow up in 12 weeks.

    • You can fulfil your private prescription from any pharmacy; however, we work closely with our partner pharmacies, Cordens in Pulborough and Signature Pharmacy, who, subject to availability, have a good stock of HRT medication at competitive prices.

    • Monitor and keep track of how you feel so you can provide information to your doctor at your next appointment in 12 weeks. Most patients notice a difference within weeks. If you have queries, you can email us at any time and receive advice from your doctor at no additional charge.

    • Mild side effects are common in the first 2/4 weeks, but if they are severe, or not settling, you can contact your doctor by email.

    • Before your appointment, you will need to complete the online Symptom Checker so we can understand if you feel any different since starting your new treatment.

    • It is an opportunity to review your progress and make any necessary changes to your treatment plan depending on your symptoms.

    • The cost includes a consultation letter which will be emailed to you shortly after your appointment. It also includes a further private prescription for three months. If after three months you wish to continue getting your HRT medication from us via private prescription, it will cost £35 for 12 months plus the cost of the HRT itself.

    • If blood tests or other investigations are required, these will need to be carried out privately, and there will be an additional cost.

    • If at your Follow-up Consultation you are feeling well and your treatment is working, we can continue to prescribe for you via private prescription or we can ask your GP to consider adding your medication to your NHS repeat prescription. (This will be at your GP’s discretion, as they will have legal responsibility for your treatment.) If you are taking HRT you will need an annual review to ensure it continues to suit you and that the benefits still outweigh the risks for you. We are happy to see you for a follow up appointment even if your GP takes over prescribing.

    • If at your Follow-up Consultation you are not feeling well and remain symptomatic, don’t panic, it is likely that your medication needs to adjusted. You may need blood tests so we can understand your oestrogen absorption, and whether you would benefit from starting testosterone treatment - with a further a follow-up appointment after 3-6 months. But everyone is different and we tailor our advice to each patient so it is impossible to know how many appointments you may need.

    • We can ask your GP to consider adding your medication to your NHS repeat prescription at any time, ideally once you are feeling well and your treatment is stable.

    • We are always here to help, and we understand that even though you may initially feel well, things can change, and you may start to become symptomatic again. Our door is always open, and you are welcome to see us as often as you wish.

    • As a minimum, to be able to receive continued email support and private prescriptions, you will need to be seen annually for a Follow-up Consultation.

    • We can hand your care back to your GP and ask that they add your medication to your NHS prescription ideally once you are feeling well and your treatment is stable.
